Why Your Student Should Participate in PTA Reflections
For over 50 years, the National PTA Reflections program has encouraged millions of students to explore their artistic talents. Reflections isn’t just an art contest—it’s a platform for self-expression, confidence-building, and personal growth.
What are some benefits for students?
Confidence & Voice: Reflections focuses on creative interpretation rather than pure competition. Judges prioritize how closely the artwork reflects the student’s personal view of the theme, giving every artist a voice.
Diverse Outlets: Whether your child is an aspiring photographer, writer, musician, filmmaker, dancer, or illustrator, there is a category for them.
Recognition Beyond the Classroom: Participating students receive local recognition, and top entries can advance to regional, state, and national awards—including scholarships and national showcase features.
Accessible to All Skill Levels & Abilities: With grade-level divisions and a dedicated Accessible Arts pathway, every student has an equal opportunity to participate.

General Items to Note
- Entry does require 1 member of your household to be a PTA member.
- Hughes Elementary School will be taking pieces in two categories – Visual Arts and Literary Arts
- If you have additional questions – please reach out jlyndalhughespta@gmail.com
- Entries are due (with completed entry form) by Oct. 29th to the Front Office. Due to processing time, late entries will not be accepted.
- Save the date for Nov. 5th! The PTA will be hosting a small gathering to view all pieces as well as hand out awards. More information to follow over the coming weeks.
